When Ed goes to work, he disembarks off the ferry at Riverside, which is at the Eagle Street Pier. It is a pretty introduction to the CBD and I enjoy going into the city because I this is where I arrive. Although it doesn’t happen that often, on occasion I will arrange to meet Ed here and we will go out for dinner or drinks at one of the many bars and restaurants here. It is very pleasant to dine in the warm evening air by the river and then take the ferry home.

Saturday morning is breakfast out time. If Ed has to work, then I go with him into the city and we have breakfast someplace like the River Bar. Going out for breakfast is a very popular thing to do in Brisbane. In our neighborhood, on Oxford Street, there are at least a dozen good choices. Many places offer breakfast specials – or not – all places are busy. Eggs are popular, with heaps of bacon, and sourdough or Turkish toast. We have learned to ask for jam, because that is not a common condiment here. Also popular is Avocado on toast or Eggs Benedict – especially with salmon (which they make to perfection here). In one of the pictures following I have poached egg and beetroot on toast.
After breakfast Ed must drag himself into the office and I will head back home – but the delicious breakfast and warm sunny morning has cheered him up. Fortunately Ed does not have to work too many Saturdays. Here are my final pictures of Eagle Street Pier (and the CBD) and then it is goodbye to you too (for now).
