Roma Street Parklands is an oasis of green in the midst of the city center. It is considered to be one of the two best examples of contemporary display gardens in Australia – and it is free! We first visited Roma Street Parklands when we were here on our recruitment visit in May of 2013 – and have visited several times since. It changes with each season, so it is worth many visits.
In these first pictures it is Autumn (May). I am excited to be in Australia for the first time.

“Those heroes that shed their blood and lost their lives, your are now lying in a soil of a friendly country therefore rest in peace. There is no difference between the Johnses and the Mehmets to us where they lie side by side here in this country of ours. You, the mothers who sent their sons from far away countries, wipe away your tears. Your sons are now lying in our bosom and are in peace after having lost their lives on this land. They have become our sons as well.”
This is taken in June, which is winter. Still beautiful!
It is Spring now (October) and the gardens are full of color.
In Canada, ornamental cabbages are grown in Autumn, yet here they are with all the Spring flowers.
Diane, you take such beautiful photos of flowers. Absolutely lovely.
